Upcoming Changes for Michigan BCBSM Direct EDI Submitters

 

Attention Michigan BCBSM Direct EDI Submitters

Blue Cross of Michigan has announced they will be changing the way they receive claims from direct submitters. This does not affect clients that use a clearinghouse other than BCBSM.

Genius and BCBSM will be communicating information on when and how to use the new system in the near future. You may have already seen some notifications that it is coming soon.

BCBSM will be issuing new passwords to you shortly and we want to make sure they have your correct information in their system. So, we are asking you to visit http://geniussolutions.com/edi now and submit your "c0" Billing Location code and contact information. You should fill out the form once for each Billing location code you use. If you don't have a "c0" Billing Location code and don't submit directly to BCBSM leave that part blank and fill out what clearinghouse(s) you do use. BCBSM and Genius are cross-referencing your contact information to ensure our records are up to date.

eTHOMAS users should also visit their Contact Information area inside of eTHOMAS to ensure the option for Authorized Callers (and their information) are up-to-date also. In eTHOMAS click the Utility tab on the top, Settings on the bottom left, then Contacts.

We will be releasing an update for EDI Client in the near future that will allow you to use the new BCBSM transmission system. If you get your password before then, please keep it handy so that when the update is ready you'll be able to enter the new password into your newly updated EDI Client and be ready-to-go quickly.

UPDATE & INSTALL the New 2021 ICD-10 Code into THOMAS Now!

Genius Solutions has released eTHOMAS version 9.5.65. This release includes the 2021 ICD-10 data set. The 2021 diagnosis codes are required on all claims with a date of service from October 1, 2020 - September 30, 2021. There are 490 additional diagnosis codes, 58 deletions, and 47 revisions.

A New Business Model For Doctors of Chiropractic

For the past 4-years, we have been developing the Neuro Way To Practice Program and during the past few months, we were able to test it out.  We were able to achieve amazing clinical results and increase our revenues when chiropractors across the country were and still are struggling.  Why were we successful?  Because we changed our business model in 2016 from passive therapies to more active care and implemented Brain-Based Care.  

 The Neuro Way To Practice Program is built upon the chiropractic manipulation as our main Brain-Based Treatment.  Neuroscience demonstrates that when we adjust a patient there are identifiable changes that occur in the brain, a reset of the patient's brainwave patterns.  We then have a 20-minute window to continue with making changes with what I call layering of therapies.  What is so exciting is that research now clearly indicates that the adjustment is much more than putting a bone back into place relieving nerve pressure.  We are in fact generating changes in our patient's brains.  Our program is an evolution back to our foundation as a neurologically based profession and not merely spine specialists. 

This has allowed us to achieve enhanced neurological performance for our patients and see clinical outcomes that many of our patients are calling miracles.  They are not miracles, but chiropractic working as it should.

Week 6 of 10-Hours of Continuing Education through Northwestern Health Sciences University is here!

Dear Doctor,
Next Thursday, July 9th, we will have a five-hour session:

Hour 1-
Three case studies consisting of two sports-related and one motor vehicle accident-related concussion. Each one will include an introduction to the mechanism of injury, when concussion ends and post-concussion syndrome begins, sequelae of symptoms left untreated.

Hour 2-
We discuss the mechanism of injury that is required for a concussive event. It will include Kinematics and Kinetics to sustain a concussion, determine it's a functional injury (not a bruising of the brain), the metabolic cascade (electrical storm phase and spreading depression phase), common syndromes.

Hour 3-
We discuss the elements needed for proper history and examination of the concussed patient. History (what happened, initial symptoms, how many past concussions, how long to recover), Examination (balance, cervical spine evaluation, neurological evaluation, autonomic nervous system evaluation, soft-tissue).

Hour 4-
We introduce the attendees to cutting edge therapies and treatments for the successful management of concussion and post-concussion syndrome. (Kinetisense system, ARPneuro, Brain Tap HRV, Brain Tap, NormaTec, Motion Guidance, Low Force Chiropractic Adjustments).

Hour 5-
We discuss when to return a student-athlete to school and eventually to sport participation. Initially 3-days of rest, a gradual return to learn, and then a gradual return to play.

State Board Approvals: Here is a list of states that will allow doctors to earn via streaming/online and where we are approved, sponsor.

1. Colorado up to 10 hours per year
2. Connecticut can earn all ours online or stream
3. Delaware 24 hours per biennium when interactive with the instructor
4. District of Columbia all hours
5. Idaho allows 6 hours of the 18 they need
6. Illinois due to COVID-19 temporarily allowing all hours to be earned online or streaming until 7/31/20
7. Indiana will temporarily allow distance learning for all CE hours until 7/1/20
8. Iowa all 40 hours allowed
9. Maine 12 hours of the 48 per biennium allowed
10. Maryland all 48 CE hours/2 years can be earned online
11. Massachusetts 12 CE hours/year can be earned online or streaming
12. Michigan 15 CE hours/year online or streaming
13. Mississippi temporarily allowing those offered by CCE approve colleges
14. Montana all 12 CE hours/year can be online or streaming
15. Nebraska temporarily allowing all online or home study due to COVID (used to limited to 6 of 36 per biennium)
16. Oregon allows 20 hours per year
17. Rhode Island up to 30 of their 60 hours every 3 years – must be direct interaction with the instructor (streaming)
18. South Carolina up to 18 hours of 36 required every 2 years
19. Vermont allows all CE online
20. Virginia allows 30 of the 60 per biennium to be online
