Some eTHOMAS Autoposting customers may experience issues with autoposting Medicare payment for dates of service 1/1/2019 and after. Medicare has changed some reason codes listed on the 835 payment reports for certain providers. Previously in 2018 this code was N701 and has now been replaced with reason code N807. Customers who receive this edit are receiving a MIPS reduction amount on their payment and this reduced payment amount will not be removed from your claim resulting in a balance still remaining on the claim after it is posted.
What you can do if you encounter this new edit:
- Option 1.
Update your eTHOMAS software as soon as possible. The new version number will be 9.5.49 in the upper right hand corner of your main eTHOMAS screen. Even if you have updated already since January 29th, 2019 and are on version 9.5.49, please update again as this modification has just been added as of February 6, 2019. - Option 2. (if you do not update)
While autoposting, and if this small edit balance is showing up in the Balance column in the Loaded Check screen, click the Writeoff Balance check box to the right of this balance to remove the excess amount from the claim. - Option 3. (if you have already autoposted some payments or do not update)
You can go back to the Patient’s Claim File after autoposting and write off the balance on the claim manually.
We believe this may affect a small number of our customers, but please review your Medicare vouchers closely to see if you have this new edit, otherwise it will not affect you.
Thanks for being a Genius client and letting us serve you.
Sincerely,
